Growing Pains

Alisa has been more difficult than usual the past week. She has been tired all throughout the day even though she's been getting the usual 11-12 hours of sleep at night and 2-3 30-60 minute naps. She's tired a mere hour after she eats, instead of 2-3 hours after eating. With her being tired most of the time, she has been more fussy and wanting to be held a lot and not be alone in a room. It has been harder to sit at the computer and get my work done because she continually comes over and stands by my legs looking up and crying to be held. Her head gets in the way of the sliding tray that holds my keyboard. If I do pick her up and hold her, she now tries to climb up ON my desk to get into everything. She used to just stay in my lap--reaching for anything she could get her hands on, but at least she'd stay sitting in my lap. She's also been eating a ton of food. She must be having a growth spurt.

So many times lately it has been sooooo hard to change her diaper. She's often crying and twisting her upper body to roll over. She will keep doing it and it's just too hard to try to hold her down to put her new diaper on. I struggled for so long to change her diaper yesterday and about 3 minutes after it was all done and we were downstairs playing in the living room, she pooped in her fresh diaper! So, I had to change her diaper AGAIN. I waited a bit since I was still recovering from the earlier drama. At least this time she didn't struggle. It seems that sometimes she just doesn't want to lie down. The worst is when she struggles like that in public. I usually only change a poopie diaper if I'm out in public because it never goes smoothly so the other kind can wait till I get home. Last week, I was at the park changing her in her stroller (it was reclined so she was lying down) and she cried and screamed and eventually rolled over. I kept holding her legs and wiping as fast as I could so the poop wouldn't get on her stroller or anywhere else (the changing pad I had laid out on the stroller was moving with her). Oh, I was SO mad! It took forever to finish the job and get her clothes snapped back up. Her poop these days is solid and not very messy, but apt to roll out of the diaper if you're not careful as you remove it. If I don't change her diaper soon after she messes it, the turds will become flattened and her little butt crack will become irritated and red (nothing a little diaper cream won't fix, though).

On a happy note, she has been laughing a lot the past couple of days. I was driving to the grocery store today and she was soooooo happy and kept laughing aloud at I don't know what. It made me laugh and then she heard me laughing and laughed some more. She has also been doing what sounds like a fake laugh recently. She will do it sporatically and it's hilarious.
