New Schedule

Alisa has been spending lots of time in her crib the past 2 weeks. She's back to sleeping 12 hours each night (up from 11 hours) so she sleeps from 8:30 PM to 8:30 AM. She's been going down for her 1st nap around 11 AM or 12 PM. She wakes up after an hour or an hour and a half and plays for a bit. By the time I finish up whatever I was doing and go in there to get her, she's lying down again with her eyes closed. So, I quietly leave and she goes back to sleep for another hour or so. Amazing! Because of this, she has been eating late lunches (2 or 3 PM) but she's fine with that (she's playful upon awakening and isn't in a hurry to eat as soon as she gets up like I would expect). She eats a big breakfast, a big lunch and a smaller dinner. Her dinner has been around 7 PM lately, instead of early at 4:30 or 5 PM like it had been 3 weeks ago. It's an odd schedule but it's nice to have her in her crib for more than an hour at a time so I can get a lot of stuff done.

Several times I've cracked the door open a bit and watched her for awhile after I've heard her wake up. She's been putting her legs straight up against the railings and crib bumper a lot. One time I quietly laughed because she actually stuck her feet through the railing above the bumper and kept them there for a bit. Her little feet looked so cute dangling out towards the middle of the room! One day she had her feet up, then she put them down, rolled over and put them up on another side of the crib. She repeated that again and again, each time putting her feet up on another side of the crib. It was hilarious.

I'm glad she's been having such a good time in her crib! Sometimes when I go in to get her after she wakes up the 2nd time (around the 3-hour mark), she is so content sitting in her crib that she doesn't want me to pick her up right away. So, I stand there and talk to her and she hands me a few toys from her crib, points at the mobile and turns on the waterfall soother and watches it.

I don't know how long this new schedule/behavior will continue, but I shall enjoy it while it lasts. It's much nicer than when she regularly napped for only half an hour...or when she woke up crying after most naps (I think she was teething then). She might be starting to transition to just one long nap each day.
