Destin

We went to Destin for the 1st time on Monday and had a great time. We stayed at a hotel Monday night and Alisa ate her 1st Pizza Hut pizza. On Tuesday morning, she had a blast standing and dancing by the A/C unit.

When we arrived at our friends' family beach house, some of them were in the pool. Alisa wanted to get in the water right away so I had to hold her back while we said hello. Then we went inside and put on our swimsuits and sunscreen. Craig took Alisa out to the pool while I finished putting sunscreen on myself. When I got outside, Alisa was happily playing in a baby raft and she was blowing bubbles for the 1st time.

Alisa really enjoyed the beach and gulf water. Craig took her into deeper water right away and she laughed every time he jumped with her over the waves.

Later, he sat and then stood with her on the shore and she smiled and laughed as the crashing waves came up to her legs.

She played in the sand by our blankets and chairs and then ventured away from the area to the open sandy area between us and the condos.

She walked around for a long time on the soft sand, falling down frequently. She even made a "sand angel" by moving her arms and legs in the sand, only she was lying on her stomach, not on her back, so the angel didn't have a head.

One time when she fell, she got sand all over her face. She wasn't disturbed by it. I was afraid she'd rub sand in her eyes so I raced to rinse her off.

We headed back to the house (2 blocks away) when Alisa was ready for a nap. She slept in her Pack 'N Play for 2 hours. We ate dinner with our friends and their family at a restaurant in Baytowne Warf. There were 17 of us and only 1 waiter so it took awhile to order drinks, get our drinks, wait to order our food, order our food and then wait for our food to arrive. While waiting for our food, Craig and I took turns walking with Alisa on the dock. It was hot sitting at the outside table, but there was a nice breeze when walking on the dock.

After dinner, we walked by the stores on the rest of the loop and then we crossed the wooden bridge over the water to get back to the entrance/exit. Alisa noticed the moon (she was mesmerized by it) and actually said "moon" for the 1st time. We had to wait a few minutes for our car to be brought to us (we had to use valet parking as there was no big parking lot nearby and our friends did the valet thing and we needed to stick with them). We changed Alisa's diaper back at their house and put her in her pajamas for the drive home. She fell asleep in the car after a few minutes of pointing out the window and saying "moooon" in her sweet little voice. When we arrived home around midnight, she woke up briefly when we took her out of the car but fell back asleep after we rushed her upstairs to her crib.
