5 Hour Nap!!!

Holy cow! Alisa took a 5 hour nap today! She went down at 4 PM, which is later than usual because we were so busy playing outside and she got so dirty that I gave her a bath right after (instead of waiting till right before bedtime). She woke up briefly around 6 PM and made a few noises but by the time I got upstairs she was asleep again.

I went in her room around 7 PM, turned on the lamp and made a little noise in hopes of gently waking her so she could eat dinner. Since she sleeps 11-12 hours at night I figured if she didn't wake up for a bit then she'd probably wake up around 4 AM wanting to get up and play and that would not be cool. She didn't stir so I left her door open and went downstairs to get some stuff done. I allowed myself to be loud in the kitchen since I wanted her to wake up. I went up to her room a few times to check on her. At one point, I even moved her arm out from under her because she was laying on it in an awkward way. She was in such a deep sleep that she didn't even stir when I did that!

She didn't wake up until 9 PM! As soon as I heard her moving around I went in there to say hi so she wouldn't go back to sleep. She ended up eating dinner after about 15 minutes of cuddle time. Then she played as normal and I put her in bed for the night around 11 PM.

Yes, I could have picked her up, moved her around a lot and talked to her when she was sleeping earlier and that would have woken her up. But, I just hate to wake a sleeping baby when I don't really have to (like for a doctor's appointment). I figured she must have needed that long nap. It all worked out in the end.

I think the afternoon bath might have caused her to think her naptime was bedtime because she almost always gets a bath right before bed. Also, she had such a busy day and was taking a late nap that it might have felt more like the end of the day to her. And then, if she did stir during the later part of her nap she might have thought it was nighttime because it was dark outside.
