On Her Own

Craig was out this morning and I didn't get a chance to shower because Alisa woke up at 7 AM and didn't play in her crib very long as she usually does when she wakes up. She somehow dropped her stuffed dog "Bow Wow" out of her crib and was so unhappy about it that even her other animals didn't comfort her. I had to rush up and get her as her crying escalated. She was fine once I handed her Bow Wow.

After Alisa was dressed, we went downstairs to eat breakfast and then play (and work) in the living room (as usual). She was being so sweet and independent this morning that I decided I could probably sneak in a shower while she was busy playing with toys by herself. I've never taken a shower before where she wasn't in bed or being watched by Craig (or a visitor). I was a bit nervous because there was a chance that she'd fall down and bump her head or something while I was away. I've left her in a room for minutes at a time but I was always able to hear her. In the shower, I knew I wouldn't be able to hear her or get to her as quickly, so that was the difference. But I decided to try it because the chance was slim (Alisa's not a wild child and isn't constantly hurting herself like some kids). I put on her favorite show, "The Backyardigan's", and closed the gate to keep her in the living room.

My shower was only about 7 minutes, which is fast for me. Alisa was fine and didn't miss me. Whew! She frequently came over to me, touched my wet hair and said "Clean hair". I normally dry it, but to save on time I didn't today. I also wanted to see what it would do if I didn't blow dry it (it flipped out rather than under).
