I was out for a bit today and Craig was watching Alisa. They were outside on the main balcony and Alisa was out of sight for a second. When Craig came around the corner, he found her holding a dead bird (a cardinal) that had just crashed into the glass door of our screened-in porch. Oh my! He took it from her, disposed of it and washed his and her hands.
At least it was a fresh death and not some rotten carcass (for the sake of cleanliness and less germs). We are going to put something on the glass door to alert the birds to its presence because this is not the first time it's happened. We've had at least one other dead bird from that and I've seen one hit it but thankfully it was fine and flew off.
