Snuggle Night

Alisa took a 6 hour nap yesterday! Craig put her down just after 3 PM but it took her about an hour to fall asleep. She's had a runny nose since Sunday so we figured she must need the extra sleep to fight that off so we didn't wake her for dinner. The hallway light woke her up when I checked on her again at 10:15 PM. She stood up and said, "I need to play" in a sleepy, whiny voice. I wanted to see if she'd just go back to sleep so I kept the light off and put her on the guest bed in her room. I changed her diaper and put on her pajamas there. She was closing her eyes and sucking her thumb off and on.

Then she suddenly seemed wide awake so we talked quietly and snuggled in the dark until 11:15 PM when we both went to sleep on that bed. She was so sweet and I figured there won't be many chances to snuggle all night with her once her little brother is born. Usually when I sleep in the same bed as Alisa (like when we were traveling this summer) I don't sleep well at all because I keep waking up. Well, now that I have a large pregnant belly, I wake up all the time anyway to roll over so I figured it would be the same. Turns out it was and I slept just as well as my new normal. It was a nice night of snuggling with my girl--a rare treat!
