Music Time at the Library

I am sad because the Little Ones Music Playgroup at the hospital is no longer free because the music therapy study is over and there is no grant money to cover expenses. FSU students will no longer be leading the group as part of their studies so they are hiring musical therapists. It is now $6 (includes $1 parking) each week and that seems a bit pricey for only half an hour of fun. We may go occasionally, but not every week like we used to.

I am happy to say that some of us moms decided to start our own music playgroup. We reserved the meeting room at 2 different libraries for an hour and a half twice a month. The 1st group was Friday 5-09-08 and it was fun. Nicole organized everything, led the group and brought extra supplies for those who forgot theirs or didn't have them. She made a CD of songs and even typed up all the words and motions and passed them out to us weeks in advance so we could familiarize ourselves with them. She did a puppet show and we sang songs and played with balls, music makers, stuffed animals and bubbles.

The 2nd group was today and it was even better than the 1st one. Several moms helped lead this time--2 played guitar on a couple of different songs, 1 read stories and Nicole led the rhymes, puppet show and a few CD songs with motions. I am looking forward to the next one!
