Free Summer Concerts

Tallahassee has free summer concerts downtown every Saturday night. Craig is out of town so I decided to get out of the house with Alisa and check out the music scene. I parked a block away and pushed Alisa and all her gear in the stroller. We got there minutes after it started at 6 PM and it wasn't crowded yet. There was a large shaded grassy area in between the downtown streets and buildings. At the far end was a temporary stage where the swingin' blues band was playing in the sunlight. There were quite a few groups of people who had brought folding tables and chairs and were eating nice dinners, complete with wine. I spread out a blanket on the grass and got Alisa out of her stroller. She walked around on the blanket and would dive onto me when a stranger caught her eye and brought forth her shyness. She then danced to the music, bouncing up and down, waving her arms, clapping her hands, bobbing her head and stomping her feet. It is the cutest thing to see her dance! She is hilarious.

During the break, I fed her dinner and then she became more comfortable with her surroundings and ventured off the blanket. There weren't many open grassy spots by then because people kept trickling in, but the family next to us left early so Alisa walked a lot in that area. She also kept smiling and peeking over at the 4 ladies sitting next to us. They thought she was adorable (of course!). We left 20 minutes before the 2-hour show was over because I had to get Alisa home to bathe her and then promptly put her in bed as it would be time then and she was already pretty tired. I had such a lovely time that I want to go again next week with Craig and bring a picnic dinner. Hopefully it won't be too hot and the band will be as enjoyable as this one. Tonight was not too bad because there was a nice breeze.
