Funny Behavior

Alisa did something today that I've never seen her do before. We were in the living room playing and she started showing signs of sleepiness so I walked over to pick her up and take her upstairs. She was walking with her hands up by her head and she lost her balance and fell down, landing on her cheek. She cried and then babbled loudly as I scooped her up and got a teething ring from the fridge. She loved it and stopped crying immediately. I saw that her cheek was slightly red from rubbing against the carpet when she fell.

I figured she needed to cuddle more and wouldn't like it if I layed her down on her changing table so I sat with her on the guest bed in her room. I put her pajama shirt on and let her loose to play with all the stuffed animals on the bed. She didn't have her usual number of poops today so I was waiting to change her diaper until the last minute before bed in case she ended up dirtying her diaper. I had put her pajama pants on the bed and after sucking on her teething ring for a few minutes, she grabbed the pants. She waved them around (as she often does with washcloths, hand towels and burpcloths) and then spent more than 10 minutes carefully bunching them up in her hands and walking or sitting on the bed. It was so interesting to watch her carefully bunch them up into a little blob, hold them with one hand and walk around on the wobbly bed (wobbly because it's an air mattress). When she fell down or when one of the legs came out of the bunch, she'd stop and carefully bunch them up again. She did this over and over and I've never seen her do something like that for so long. It was really cute with the serious faces she was making and I wish I had brought the camera upstairs to get a video clip. I knew that if I ran to get the camera though, she'd stop doing what she was doing (because it always happens that way).
