Happy Trails Ranch

The moms group I help organize went to Happy Trails Ranch for 2 1/2 hours this morning. The owner let the kids feed the many horses and ride 2 of them. She had her cat and then her 2 dogs do a few tricks. Then, she drove her tractor, pulling a hay-filled trailer around the 13-acre property for 3 different hayrides. Alisa, Craig and I went on the first hayride and it was relaxing. The weather was perfect and the noise from the tractor was very lulling. Alisa and I managed to go on the 2nd hayride too because after watching some kids ride the horses, we were walking in the direction of the tractor just before it left and there was an open spot and Alisa wanted to ride again. After the 2nd hayride, Alisa rode both of the horses and then we ate lunch at the picnic tables.

Everyone had a good time. Alisa took a surprising 4 1/2 hour nap when we got home (I slept for 2 hours myself--I had only intented to sleep for 20 minutes!).

Alisa's first time on a horse:

Alisa enjoyed riding the horses (it looks like she's crying but really she was just laughing awkwardly as she was getting used to the sensation). She cried when she had to get off and let another kid ride but luckily she was able to get on the second horse minutes later:

After eating lunch, Alisa and Darien (Craig's little brother of the Big Brothers program) played with little plastic souvenir horses:

If you listen closely, you can hear her awkward laugh in this video:
