Where is Thumbkin?

We sang the song "Where is Thumbkin?" at library story time yesterday. Alisa hadn't heard it in many many months. She just sat on my lap sucking her thumb while everyone around her sang. I was surprised later in the day to hear her singing the song all the way through. She sang the thumbkin verse but none of the other verses (about the other fingers). She frequently made up her own verses, such as "Where is Minga?", "Where is Mommy?", "Where is Daddy?", "Where is Horsey?" So great!

Craig put Alisa to bed last night and after reading books to her they both stayed on the guest bed to snuggle for awhile. Craig ended up dozing off. After half an hour of silence (other than Alisa's bedtime music) Alisa began to sing "Where is Thumbkin?" She sang and talked for awhile and then got quiet again. Craig told me later that he woke up at that half hour mark and looked at Alisa and she immediately stopped singing, sucked her thumb and pretended to be asleep. Hilarious! She of course cried a little when he put her in her crib and left the room...snuggle time was over. She ended up staying awake till 10:15 PM but still woke up at 7:15 AM (her new usual wake time as of last week).
