Hooray! Alisa's fever is gone! It was 99 then 101 this morning but after her nap it was 98.7. I figured it was gone before I got her out of bed from her nap because she was actually singing just like the good ol' days. So good to hear that again! Alisa said Daddy gave her some medicine before her nap so I will check again later today to make sure the fever isn't creeping back. At least she is in even better spirits and has been asking for more and more food.
A rash appeared this morning (or possibly right before bed last night when her fever spiked to 104.3) and it's mostly on her cheeks, back of her neck and very lightly on her back and chest. According to FamilyDoctor.org it might be Fifth Disease (caused by parvovirus B19), where a kid has several days of fever followed by a rash on the cheeks that spreads to the trunk, arms and legs. By the time the rash appears, they are no longer contagious. The only thing that doesn't match up is that the website says the fever is accompanied by headache and mild cold-like symptoms (stuffy or runny nose) which she didn't have at all. I will watch the rash today and tomorrow and call the doctor on Monday. If it is Fifth Disease there is no treatment. The rash will slowly disappear within 3 weeks.
