Listen and Obey

I've been teaching Alisa what it means to listen and obey and what it means to cooperate. I've been saying the phrase or word for about a week and she asks me what they mean every time. I'm sure she will soon fully understand and remember and not have to ask me anymore.

I've only spanked her like 2-3 times in her life but she fears spankings. I don't spank her very hard (not even enough to sting at her age) but she hates them and cries and cries. I think it hurts her more emotionally than physically. If she is running from me and not listening I have to chase her and grab her tightly to let her know I'm serious. I tell her she needs to listen and obey. When I grab her, she often immediately says, "Don't spank me! Please don't spank me!" which I find a bit odd because it's not like I spank her all the time or anything. I'm sure any stranger passing by would assume that I spank her hard and often for her to say something like that.
